Bazza Ranks and Turnstyle continue to put their own spin on 80s disco funk with their latest track, ‘Town Red’. They capture a vintage glamour, delivering a sound that feels both classic and quietly timeless through laid-back yet infectious basslines and synth hooks, evoking shades of Chromeo. Vocals come from JB, aka Jason Bradshaw, one half of Ghost Writers on the legendary Tru Thoughts label and also part of Banana Klan, headed up by Roots Manuva, who locks into the groove and carries the vibe with ease.

Bazza: “With this record, we wanted to try something a little different while staying true to the funky, smooth sounds we love. The moment I heard Bobby’s first draft of the beat, I knew we needed a vocalist with the ability to match that feel. So I called in my longtime collaborator JB, who promptly took it to another level.

Since then, we’ve obsessively tweaked, refined, and fine-tuned every detail until we reached a point where we genuinely believe the record has a timeless quality.”
